The Debate part 2

Yes, it’s gonna be interesting how this one will turn out. But 1 thing is clear, Obama is fundamentally stronger than McCain. The art of taiji and also the art of war teaches us that winning is not about employing  brute force against the opponent’s attacks but rather the most important thing is to snatch a more stable position and stance than the opponent. Obama’s strengths and stability comes from his sense of decency and intelligence and also the downward spiral of Bush’s last 8 years that seems to be suddenly accelerating all around us. These are also McCain’s chief weaknesses. McCain’s core strength comes from his connection with the white, working-class, redneck population, fear-mongering and his disposition to use whatever means necessary to demolish his opponent even at the expense of of his integrity. But these strengths can be a double-edged sword that can cut if he’s not careful. Obama should not let go of McCain’s chief weaknesses and press on it at every turn, rubbing it in in every word. McCain will try to deflect by trying to move away and bringing focus on Obama’s character, friends, associations. Obama cannot fall into his trap by engaging him directly on it. He does not need to defend at length all the accusations levelled at him by McCain, rather just deflecting them by calling into question his motives and always come back to those main sticking points that McCain fears. McCain will be the one on the defensive although it would seem like he’s the one doing the attacking. He knows it and he’s trying to turn the situation to snatch a better position and stage a come back. McCain is trying to flail his arms all over the place in hopes of feeling an opening and getting in a solid punch. But he’s just wasting energy and effectiveness on every punch. Obama just needs to solidly stand his ground, pressing on McCain’s weaknesses when an opening presents and just watch McCain eventually fall on his own accord.

What a difference to Bush’s team

What a difference an Obama administration will be in contrast to Bush. A while ago, I wrote about Obama’s capabilities and what he’ll bring to the table if he were to be President.  This man is no pushover. After last night, it is pretty obvious this man’s inexperience with politics isn’t going to be his Archilles heel. The way Joe Biden last night conduct the debate shows that the next 4-8 years under Obama will literally make Bush look like a gunslinging moron. It gives you an insight as to how the Obama team works and how they prepare to win. They kept their eye on the strategic goal by hammering away at McCain’s similarities to Bush. They kept their focus on the economic mess that’s been created although this may seem to come as a godsend with the bailout, etc. And this will show how Obama will end and “win” the war in Iraq. And this will show how Obama will solve the economic mess. They know how to get the big picture right and to keep the heat on it. These guys are winners and they are deeper than the short-sighted, shoot-from-the-hip plans coming out of the current white house occupant. Here’s another take on the debate.

The Palindromic Debate

Duh, this article here about sums it up what I’m gonna say. According to Wikipedia, a palindrome is a word, phrase, number or other sequence of units that can be read the same way in either direction. That’s what I’ve been hearing from Guv’nor Palin, the hockey mom VP wannabe. Now I’ve no problems with a hockey mom as VP. We all also know the kind of IQ and integrity that can come out of Washington these days and expectations of public servants are at an all time low. Given other circumstances, the McCain-Palin ticket would have been almost a no-brainer. 1 is a bona-fide war hero with years of political experience & the other a down-to-earth goody folksy human being who can relate to the average person-in-the-street. It’s a good team for good times. But these are not good times. 7 years of a war-ravaged economy that have taken numerous lives, squandered resources that can be put to better use and America’s tanking world credibility and I should think the average person-in-the-street should feel enough is enough. It’s not that Joe Biden and Obama are such capable superheroes who can save the day but it’s just that they are just the…the better team. Sarah Palin for all her charm & goodiness have shown us in that 1 hour debate just how far she is when it comes to managing the affairs of the state. Yes, you can be folksy & “average” & it’s got all the makings of one of those inspirational American dream stories. But somehow, it’s not enough. The fear is that should McCain-Palin win, it will just be more of the same disastrous mismanagement for another 4-8 years. Bad.
